NEW DELHI, Nov 18: India and Egypt signed here on Tuesday five agreements including an extradition treaty and another for establishing a strategic dialogue at foreign minister level.

The agreements were inked after wide-ranging talks between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and visiting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

India and Egypt agreed to work together to counter terrorism and in this regard signed the extradition treaty.

The two leaders discussed the issue of terrorism and described it as one of the gravest threats to international peace and security.

They underlined that terrorism “cannot and should not” be associated with any nationality or religion or cultural or ethnic group.

Global financial crisis also came under discussion and they agreed to work together to meet this challenge, an official statement said.

It is the first visit by an Egyptian head of state to India in 25 years.—APP
