TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 17: Police on Monday registered a case against a doctor for disgracing the body of a woman.
According to a first information report registered under Section 297 of the Pakistan Penal Code, accused Dr Irfan Sheikh arrived in Kamalia on Saturday night (Nov 15) and dug the grave of Zaibunnisa who had died two days ago.
Complainant Zafar Iqbal Sheikh, widower of Zaib, of Ravi Town in Kamalia, said the accused laid with the body of Zaib. When his family and he visited the graveyard on Sunday morning, they saw the grave had been dug and accused lying there unconscious.
After his failure to marry Zaib, the 35-year-old professional doctor attempted to suicide in the grave.
Dr Sheikh has been shifted to the Faisalabad Allied Hospital from the Kamalia Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
CASE: Police registered a case against three people for kidnapping a 12-year-old girl of Chak 306-GB.
Khurshid informed police that his daughter, Saba, was abducted by Liaquat Jat, Nasreen Bibi and an unidentified car driver on Nov 11. The accused took her to a deserted place where Liaquat tried to rape her but she was rescued by area people.
Police are after the accused.
STRIKE: Lawyers observed a strike in protest against the cancellation of license of Peshawar High Court Bar Association President Latif Afridi. In Kamalia, Tehsil Bar Association members also observed a complete strike on the issue.
