PESHAWAR, Oct 25: A meeting of officials of the University of Peshawar was held here to review critically the performance of the administrative staff over the past nine months and to celebrate University foundation day on October 30.

The administrative staff meeting was presided over by Dr Zulfiqar Hussain Gilani, Vice Chancellor of University of Peshawar. Mr Ajmal Khan, registrar of the University was also present.

Dr Gilani while speaking on the occasion said that October 30, the foundation day of the university will be celebrated with great pomp and show for the reason that on the same day the foundation stone of the computer centre will also be laid and first ever centre of biotechnology will be inaugurated by the Chancellor University of Peshawar (UOP).

The meeting was also briefed about the student activity on the same day in the evening by the assistant provost. The treasurer UOP briefed the house about the transparent procedural ways and formalities for the smooth running of his office.

Dr Gilani said the legal cell has been restructured and assistant registrar will look after the cell. However, it will be under deputy registrar. “I want to have quick, smart and active officers and lower staff so that the functioning of the office could be accelerated, he added.

Mr Gilani also expressed his concern about the working of few offices. He directed the sectional heads to monitor properly the performance and working of their staff.

The vice chancellor also directed the works department of the University to prepare a report about Aga Khan Hall, convocation hall and senate hall which needs to be furnished and renovated.

The performance of directorate of admissions have been excellent and all staff deserves to be appreciated, Dr Gilani added. It should be remembered that new system of centralized admissions according to the vice chancellor’s reforms and restructuring programme, has been introduced which highly facilitated the students seeking admissions to the varsity.

Gilani also informed the house that a special software for the admissions was established. This special software i.e Management Information System, will soon be extended to the other office of establishment to develop more computer based offices, the vice chancellor informed.

Exams: It is to inform that MSc Final Chemistry Practical Examination is going to start from October 30 and last until November 2. And MSc previous Chemistry practical examination is going to start from November 3.
