SAHIWAL, Nov 14: The family of the polio-stricken lad who suffered torment at the hands of his neighbours is crying foul as the Noor Shah police failed to arrest the culprits even two days after the incident on Friday.
Two brothers had chopped of the nose of Ajab Khan of Chak 52-GD who stopped them from teasing his sister. They also inflicted injuries on his left hand, lips and eye, taking advantage of his disability.
Having qualms about the police role, Ajab’s family demanded immediate arrest of the two brothers (neighbours) who, they said, were freely moving around in the vicinity.
Investigation Officer (Inspector) Sadiq of Noor Shah police told Dawn: “I twice raided the house of the suspects, but there were only female members of the family.”
Shah Mahmood, an uncle of Ajab, alleged that the Noor Shah police were protecting the culprits at the behest of an influential landlord.
