MANSEHRA, Nov 14: A woman was killed and three other family members sustained injuries when their house collapsed due to heavy rain here early Friday morning.

The incident occurred in the Pano Dari area near the main bus stand. Sources said Mohammad Yousaf, his daughter Rukhsana Bibi, a sister-in-law, wife of Mohammad Nazeer, and sister Mehar Fazoon Bibi were buried under the debris. They were pulled out of the rubble, except for Mehar Fazoon, who died before she could be rescued.

The injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Mansehra from where Mr Yousaf was referred to the Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad because of his critical condition.

The rains have wreaked havoc in the area during the last two days and most of roads, including the Balakot-Narain road, have been blocked because of land sliding. Water also entered prefabricated houses of earthquake survivors in Balakot and its surrounding areas. — Correspondent
