QUETTA, Nov 13: Supreme Court Bar Association president Ali Ahmed Kurd has warned the government of a decisive movement for the restoration of judiciary to its pre-Nov 3, 2007 position.

Addressing the lawyers who boycotted court proceedings here on Thursday, he said that if ‘all deposed judges’ were not reinstated by the time Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry returned from abroad, the government would face ‘black coats’ in every corner of the country.

Justice Chaudhry will leave for the US on Nov 16 on a week’s visit.

Mr Kurd said the government and other parties in parliament should honour the commitment they made during election campaign to reinstate the deposed judges.

He said that lawyers had rendered great sacrifices for the rule of law and restoration of judiciary and would not abandon their struggle till the reinstatement of all judges.

Mr Kurd said that with an independent judiciary headed by Justice Chaudhry in place there would be political and economic stability and foreigners would invest if the country was governed by the rule of law.

He said that lawyers believed in supremacy of the Constitution and sovereignty of parliament, but without an independent judiciary no one could guarantee continuity of the democratic system.
