HYDERABAD, Nov 13: Problems confronting the minorities and ways and means to protect their rights were discussed during a meeting of the All Pakistan Minorities Alliance on Thursday.

Later, talking to newsmen at the press club, Secretary General Michael Javed condemned the imprisonment of a peasant by a landlord of Sheikhupura (Punjab). He alleged that the peasant was kept in chains while his brother along with the family was missing.

This was not only a flagrant violation of human rights and constitution but was also against the principles of Islam, he said.

He hoped the government would protect constitutional and religious rights of the minorities. He trusted that the seats of minorities in assemblies and Senate would also be increased.
