TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 12: Union council No 15 nazim Chaudhry Arshad Noori was murdered by his rivals for pursuing a murder case on Wednesday near his village Chak 350-JB (Gojra).

Reports said Mr Noori was on his way to another village on his motorcycle from Chak 350-JB when Rashid, Bashir Taidi along with their accomplices opened fire, killing him on the spot. No case had been registered yet.

Police said Arshad Noori was supporting family of a person of his village who had been murdered a year ago.

He was pursuing the case on which the murder accused killed Noori. Scores of people, including former MNA M Hamza and tehsel nazim Asad Zaman Cheema, offered funeral prayers.

CANAL BREACH: A breach in Burala canal near Kamalia inundated crops on hundreds of acres of land on Wednesday.

The breach was primarily 10-foot wide but later expanded to 15 feet. The irrigation staff and farmers were struggling to plug the breach till the filing of this report.
