MANSEHRA, Nov 11: The additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday sentenced an accused to nine years jail in kidnapping and sexual assault case of a nine-year-old girl. The court also imposed a fine of Rs45,000 on the convict.

Sources said that Mohammad Ayub, resident of Oghi, along with his accomplice, had kidnapped daughter of Gul Mohammad in 1996 and taken her to Kala Dhaka where she was allegedly subjected to repeated sexual assaults.

The girl’s father had lodged an FIR with Oghi police following which the kidnapper was declared a proclaimed offender, who had later obtained bail from a local court. Following the completion of arguments by the lawyers of both sides, the judge announced the verdict, after which the police shifted the convict to the Mansehra district prison.
