Maymar Sports shock Karachi United

KARACHI, Nov 10: District Central champions Maymar Sports who earlier got a 6-0 and 7-0 thrashing from Nazimabad FC and Sharafi Mohammadan but later surprised everyone by beating Baloch Mujahid and Usmanabad Union by 2-1 and 4-2, have done it yet again, trouncing Karachi United FC 4-1 and climbing up the points table ladder to the fourth position with 19 points.

The KASB Premier League Football (PLF) match at the CDGK Stadium on Sunday saw Maymar Sports jump ahead 1-0 in the 20th minute when their striker Mohammad Naseem beat Karachi United’s cherubic goalkeeper Ubaid Khwaja to send the ball into the goal from a difficult angle.

The 35th minute had them doubling the lead when left winger Nur Ali’s try from outside the penalty box sent the ball into the left corner leaving behind a clueless Ubaid Khwaja. The score at interval was 2-0.

Maymar’s move of bringing in Mohammad Ashraf as striker in the 58th minute clicked in the 70th when Ashraf gave his side their third goal through solo attempt.

Karachi United’s young striker Zaid Kerai gave them their consolation goal in the 76th minute. Maymar’s lead, finally, was pushed to 4-1 during injury time when Mohammad Ashraf converted left winger Nur Ali’s pass in the 91st minute.
