SHIKARPUR, Nov 10: A jirga held in Lal Khan Jatoi village in Kot Shahoo police station’s limits on Sunday ordered to give a seven-year-old girl in marriage to a 15-year-old boy to settle a dispute over kari-kari between two warring groups.

According to sources, tribal elders Maashi Khan Jatoi and Bajhi Khan Jatoi had convened the jirga, which declared one Jhando Jatoi guilty of having illicit relations with the wife of Saindad Jatoi.

The jirga ordered Gajjan Jatoi to give his seven-year-old daughter Hajul in marriage to 15-year-old Shahoo Jatoi, son of complainant Saindad Jatoi, as compensation on behalf of his brother Jhando Jatoi and also imposed Rs100,000 fine, the sources said.

Later, nikah was solemnised and the minor bride was sent to her husband’s house.
