LAHORE, Nov 7: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday the government was committed to promoting technical education so as to produce skilled workforce which could help the country earn foreign exchange.
He said the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) would be ‘activated’ and its curricula would be harmonised with the modern-day demands, says a handout. He directed Tevta to formulate effective recommendations for improving the curricula within 10 days.
Presiding over a high-level meeting at his secretariat, the chief minister said funds for Tevta had been enhanced this year and the authority would be made to deliver.
He said experts, including industrialists, had been included in the Tevta board so that measures could be taken for reforming the institution. He said he would hold negotiations with the ambassadors of different countries to seek their cooperation in the promotion of technical education.
