LONDON, Nov 7: The dollar weakened against the euro on Friday on a grim US employment report that strengthened convictions the United States was already at the start of a painful recession.

The single European currency in late-day trade was at $1.2750 after $1.2713 late Thursday in New York.

The dollar was meanwhile trading at 98.08 yen against 97.72 on Friday.

The US unemployment rate rose to its highest level since 1994 in October, official data showed on Friday, with analysts forecasting it to increase further in Barack Obama’s first year as president.—AFP
