FAISALABAD, Nov 6: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chief Imran Khan says politicians involved in billions of rupees corruption are against independence of the judiciary and reinstatement of deposed judges.

Addressing district bar association members here on Thursday at the barroom, the PTI chief said US citizens voted for a change and elected Barack Obama as next president to get rid of their problems. The Pakistani people would also have to work for a change otherwise “there would be no end to our dark age”.

He stressed the need for sacrifices both by politicians and overseas Pakistanis, and said they should contribute to steer the country out of the current economic recession. He asked politicians to bring back their resources deposited with foreign banks and then request the nation for sacrifice.

Criticising the rulers, Mr Khan said: “Begging is not a solution to country’s problems. We will have to focus on our own resources to put the economy on track. Foreign loans will not resolve our problems, as we have been doing for the last many years.”

He said the rule of law was the solution to problems, however, corrupt politicians did not want to see an independent judiciary with honest judges. The district bar also took out a protest rally, led by Mr Khan and DBA president Nasir Ali.

The rally started from the bar premises and after passing through Kutchery Bazaar ended at Clock Tower intersection.

The protesters were carrying banners and black flags in connection with their weekly protest, seeking restoration of the deposed judges.

Traders and people from different walks of life showered rose petals when the rally reached its last point. seminar: The Social Welfare department on Thursday organised a seminar and a walk here to promote wheat growing in the province.

About hundred participants of the walk, comprising members of non-governmental organizations and employees of the department, started from the Social Welfare Complex and after passing from the Radio Pakistan Chowk returned to the starting point.
