Fancied Allana unbeaten

KARACHI, May 10: Fancied Allana team took lead on the inaugural day of Karachi Club Open Bridge Championship which commenced at KC Bridge Hall Thursday.

Allana comprising A. R. Allana, Jan-e-Alam Fazli, Sultan Siddiqui, Rashid Jaffer, Rashid-ul-Ghazi and Hassan Jawed won both their matches by a maximum Victory Point (VP) margin of 25 each. Allana defeated KC Akbar by 25-4 and Chandna by 25-5.

Akbar IV with Ghulam Akbar, Siddiq Essa, F.A.Naeem and Mehmood Siddiqui having won both their matches in following them with 44 VP.

Another star-studded team Lipton with Pervaiz Mirza, Mohsin Chandna Gheewala, M. A.Ansari and Gulzar Bilal are placed third with 43 VP.

A total number of 20 teams are participating in the event including four KC teams. The tournament is played on Swiss Movement. Two more rounds of 16 boards each will be played Saturday and three rounds will be played on Sunday.—APP
