Gojra club qualify for Asian event

KARACHI, Oct 30: Gojra’s Olympian Village Club qualified for the Asian Club Hockey Championship after they overpowered Larkana on penalty strokes to clinch the National Club Hockey Championship title at the UBL Sports Complex on Thursday.

The final was locked 2-2 at the regulation time. However, in the penalty stroke session Gojra club scored two goals and Larkana one.

Earlier, Larkana displayed a great fighting spirit while coming from 0-2 down to draw 2-2 before losing in the penalty shootout.

Akber Ali and Manzoor Ahmed netted the first two goals for the Gojra club. But Majid Ali scored off penalty stroke and Asif Michael netted a field for Larkana to par terms.

The Olympian Village Club Gojra will now represent Pakistan in the Asian Club Hockey Championship to be held in Malaysia next month.—APP
