ISLAMABAD, Oct 29: A judge and a major thrashed each other over an issue of official residence, police said.

The residence, located in F-6/4, was allotted to the special judge of the Anti-Narcotics Court, Rawalpindi, where the major’s father, a deputy secretary who retired in 2001, resided.

The retired deputy secretary was living in the official residence after obtaining a stay order from the court, the police said, adding that the stay was vacated on October 24. The residence was then allotted to the judge, who along with the Estate Office officials and an inspector, reached there to take possession of the house, and started clearing it of the household items placed there.

When the major was informed about the situation, he arrived at the house, and started using harsh words against the judge and other officials, which led to a brawl, the police said.

The two officials thrashed each other, resulting in bruises and torn clothes. Later some senior army officers also arrived at the scene.

Both parties approached the police and lodged complaints against each other. In reply the police registered a cross version case. However, no arrest was made.

The major, in his complaint, said the judge and the Estate Office officials arrived at his residence and started removing his household items from the house, and also engaged in a brawl.

On the other hand the judge in his complaint stated that the major quarreled with him and threatened him with dire consequences.

The police said the house was allotted to the judge and he had orders in this regard. The major did the wrong by engaging in a brawl with him, they added.
