NAWABSHAH, Oct 27: The Shaheed Benazir Bhutto district chapter of the Pakistan People’s Party has nominated Ziaul Hassan Lanjar its candidate for running for the post of district nazim, according to a press release issued by the acting district president of the PPP MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio on Monday.

The seat of district nazim fell vacant after resignation of Ms Faryal Talpur when she opted for a National Assembly seat. The party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and MNA Faryal Talpur had approved his name for the post of district nazim, it was learnt.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has recently announced schedule of elections for nazim and it is widely expected that Lanjar will win the seat unopposed.

CARJACKED: Unidentified thieves stole away a car belonging to Khalifa Ghulam Akbar outside the GPO office on Monday. The matter has been reported to police.

Meanwhile, one Mohammad Altaf died after he fell from a train near Buchheri railway station.
