VEHARI, Oct 26: A 16-year-old girl was killed and six people of her family were injured in a fireworks explosion in Marzipura locality of Burewala city on Sunday.

Amanullah started fireworks business in his house located in Street 10 of Marzipura years ago.

He died two years ago, but his family continued his fireworks business despite cancellation of licences by the Punjab government six months ago.

On Sunday, his family members were making firecrackers when the explosives caught fire and caused a huge explosion.

As a result, 16-year-old Tasleem died at the scene. Her mother Safia, siblings Shahbaz (18), Fiaz (15), Kulsoom (12), Shagufta (6) and cousin Qasim (4) were injured critically. All the injured were admitted to Burewala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, where Shagufta and Fiaz’s condition was said to be critical.
