LAHORE, Oct 25: Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) leader Pervaiz Elahi said on Saturday the party stood united behind its leadership, and the workers and leaders would play their role for the country in the present turmoil.

Speaking to women parliamentarians of the party, he praised the National Assembly resolution on terrorism as a welcome step, saying PML-Q leaders (Senator Wasim Sajjad and Kamil Ali Agha) played an important role in its finalisation.

He expressed concern over the economic situation in the country, and said Shaukat Tareen had so far given three plans for economic revival all of which had failed to attract positive response from the world.

He said the government had so far failed on minor issues like controlling price of flour and oil, leave alone bigger crises confronting the country. “Subsidised roti is a political gimmickry which has no social value. It is made of substandard wheat and will spread diseases among the people instead of helping them”.

The PML-Q tenure, he said, was free of such crises as Punjab was supplying wheat to all federating units because of better planning. “Now the rulers have complicated the economic and social issues. The PPP and the PML-N should fulfill their pre-election promises and provide relief to the people.”

Pervaiz Elahi said the PML-Q would file a reference against all those who defected to forward bloc and get them de-seated. Such elements, he claimed, were also facing humiliation at the hands of the PPP.
