LARKANA, Oct 24: Three unidentified motorcyclists shot at and killed a shopkeeper Abid Kalhoro in Lahori Mohalla on Friday, just a few hours after Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza arrived in Naudero to chair a meeting of police officers on poor law and order in the district.
According to eyewitnesses, a police van was passing by when the alleged killers were firing on the shopkeeper but it did not dare stop nor go after the fleeing culprits.
Police arrived at the crime scene after half an hour and moved the body to the mortuary of the Chandka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Sources close to the shopkeeper said that the deceased had an exchange of hot words a few days ago with some men belonging to Khoso clan who had threatened him with dire consequences.
Apparently taking notice of poor law and order in the district, the minister discussed measures for maintaining law and order in the meeting and directed police officers to intensify patrolling and establish pickets at important points to keep an eye on criminals.
He directed them to ensure people’s security and immediately launch a campaign for removing tinted glasses and hooters from the cars.
He asked them to check unregistered motorcycles and urged to initiate a campaign against the suspects to improve law and order situation and safeguard people’s lives.
