Police let accused cop off the hook

GUJRANWALA, Oct 23: Scores of protesters besieged a police station in Naushera Virkan on Thursday after police let a constable, stated to be a dacoity accused, escape.

According to reports reaching here, constables Jamshed and Anjum, in civvies, were looting passersby on Karyal Kalan Road when some people overpowered them and handed them over to police.

Constable Anjum however managed his escape from the police station.

Protesters claimed that policemen on duty had helped Anjum flee.

Sadar SP Athar Waheed suspended two constables on duty and asked Kamoki circle additional superintendent Azhar Hussain to hold an inquiry.

HUMAN AGENTS: The Federal Investigation Agency arrested two notorious human agents, including one of the red book, in a raid on Thursday.

According to FIA’s Gujranwala additional director Hussain Asghar, Zubair Jogi of Kharian was on top of the list of wanted human agents. He said the accused had returned to Pakistan from Greece after seven years.

He said Zubair had sent over two dozen people to Greece by ship in 2004.

Of them 19 jumped into the sea for fear of arrest and 12 of them had drowned. In another raid FIA arrested Afzal from Kamoki.

A schoolteacher, Afzal was presently serving in Lahore Lahore.
