LAHORE, Oct 22: Fancied colt Blitz landed the feature event run over the sprinting distance of 800 metres during the midweek Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

The three-year-old chestnut Blitz may have been a bit slow to start but he made up for lost ground, jumping into the lead to beat the filly Princess Aman by about three lengths at the finishing line. Hamza Prince and Jang Ju completed the frame among the 13 runners.

Owned by Syed Parwaiz Hussain, Blitz is trained by Sohail Aziz.

The Talagang Plate, Class VI division I & II combined, featuring a six-event card was the second race of the day.

Five-year-old dark-bay mare Pretty, an even-money favourite, was the most impressive winner of the day in the first race. Taking a flying leap out of the starting gates, she ran ahead of the field to beat Delux by over a length.

Red Baron was nosed out to third position with the bay filly Silent Assassin coming fourth.

The six-year-old chestnut horse Sudden Attack, in a sudden move while entering the home stretch in the dying strides, won the third race in which five out of 11 runners were backed.

Owned by Munir Dar, the winner was given a perfect ride by the riding boy Alam Sher. The bay colt Racing Bridge came second over two lengths with Aa Ja Aa Ja and Pakistani completing the frame.

Four favourites won in a card of six races. They were Pretty (even-money), Blitz (70-to-100), Candidate (70-to-100) and Leader’s Win (3-to-2).

The Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards have taken serious notice of the in and out running of dark bay colt Best Owner in the first race. His rider S. Ammad was fined Rs10,000 for not riding his mount on merit.
