NAWABSHAH, Oct 20: Cotton growers of Nawabshah have demanded of higher authorities to take action against cotton ginners for not paying the government fixed-price of cotton to the growers.

Sindh Small Growers Association leader Mohammad Hakim Khaskheli told Dawn that cotton factory owners were fleecing growers. He said that the factory owners had fixed the cotton price of Rs1,600 per 40kg as against the government fixed price of cotton Rs1,950, hence they were violating the government directives.

He said that the factory owners were also illegally deducting cotton weight. He demanded of MNA Faryal Talpur to take notice of the situation and direct the officials concerned to take action against ginners so the growers might be saved from huge losses.
