KARACHI, Oct 18: Sindh Minister for Katchi Abadis Rafiq Engineer has said that katchi abadis existing until March 23, 1985 within the city limits will be incorporated in the list of recognised katchi abadis after proper scrutiny.

Chairing a meeting of the Sindh Katchi Abadis Authority (SKAA) field directors on Saturday, the minister made it clear that people coming from other countries to settle in Pakistan and now living in katchi abadis would not be given proprietary rights of the places in their occupation. He directed SKAA director-general Kashif Gulzar to accelerate the pace of lease work across Sindh.

He also called for initiating the “Shaheed Benazir Bhutto low-cost housing schemes in big cities in order to check emergence of more katchi abadis and provision of houses to deserving people.—APP
