Gepco explains power suspension

GUJRANWALA, May 9: The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) clarified that power supply from Ranpura feeder, Sialkot, remained suspended on May 7 from 6am to 3pm for the maintenance of the system while consumers were informed in advance through national newspapers about the power shutdown. While power supply from Narowal-Jassar feeder and Paris Road feeder of Sialkot remained suspended for 15 to 45 minutes.

A GEPCO spokesman said suspension of water supply in Sialkot was not related to the suspension of power supply.

Meanwhile, the GEPCO chief executive reshuffled four executive engineers. Mandi Bahauddin XEN Amanat Bhatti was transferred to Gujranwala Cantt, Bakhatzada from Shakargarh to Mandi Bahauddin, Khalid Pervaiz from Sialkot city division 1 to Shakargarh and Ehsan Azeem from Gujranwala Cantt to GEPCO headquarters.

ARRESTED: The Ferozewala police on Thursday claimed to have arrested the murderer of Pakistan Medical Association former President Dr Ghulam Rasul.

On a tip-off, the team raided a dera and arrested proclaimed offender Amanullah.

BAILED OUT: PPP’s city president Khalid Humayun, who was arrested by police in the murder case of the son of vegetable market commission agents president Muhammad Siddiq, was bailed out by the Lahore High Court on Thursday.

The district and sessions judge had rejected his bail application twice.

SHOT DEAD: A mother of three was shot dead allegedly by her brothers on suspicion of bad character here on Thursday.

Zahida Bibi was present in her house when Rafaqat and Riasat opened fire on her and escaped. Zahida sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.
