LAHORE, May 9: Thursday was the hottest day of the current summer so ar as maximum temperature rose to 44.7 degrees C.

The blazing sun and the convection winds were particularly troublesome for motorcyclists and schoolchildren. Shortage of water in some areas added to the inconvenience.

According to the Met Office, light rain was expected in Malakand, Kashmir and the Northern Areas on Friday. Elsewhere, the forecast was hot and dry.
