LAHORE, May 9: The Wapda on Thursday denied that Lt-Gen Zulfiqar Ali Khan (retired) had been approached with a suggestion that he should be made the minister for water and power.

According to press statement issued by the Authority, the question of his refusing to take over did not arise because no such proposal had been made in the first place.

STEEL FURNACES: Wapda authorities have extended closure facility to steel furnaces in the months of May and June to seven days.

A Wapda press release said the decision was taken on consumers’ request. The furnace are supplied power through an independent feeder.

The consumers will have to apply for the facility to the executive engineer (Operations) concerned to qualify for a proportionate exemption from payment to be granted in the following bill.
