LAHORE, Oct 14: Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) beat Pakistan Television (PTV) 3-0 and Army drew 1-1 with Navy in the two Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches played in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The KRL-PTV match at the PSB Ground, near Hamidi Hall, in Islamabad saw an impressive KRL side breaking the ice through their local boy Mohammad Qasim who slotted the ball home in the 23rd minute after fine work by Zia-us-Salam on the right flank.
KRL might have scored more goals too but their forwards missed opportunities with feeble shots as the first half ended with them leading by 1-0.
The winners continued their onslaughts in the second half too and the Sialkot-born Zubair Ahmed made it 2-0 in the 58th minute.
Chitral-born Mohammad Rasool, a stunning international striker, came into action in the 77th minute with a brilliant goal to round off the tally. It was Rasool’s ninth goal of the event.
The second match between Army and Navy at Naval Complex that resulted in a low-scoring tie, saw Army scoring the first goal through their midfielder Shabbir Hussain, who fired the ball into the net in the fourth minute.
But Army could not maintain their lead as the seamen drew level quickly when Mohammad Basharat hit the equaliser in the 14th minute.
Wednesday’s fixture: Wapda v PMC at Railway Stadium, Lahore, at 4.00pm.—Agencies
