HYDERABAD, Oct 14: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a bail application of Altaf Unnar as one of the judges ordered that the matter should not be placed before him because he had once acted as the applicant’s lawyer.
Ishrat Lohar advocate informed the court that he had been appointed the special public prosecutor in the case by the provincial government on behalf of MNA Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho who is the complainant in the case. He sought permission to proceed with the case.
The case for which bail application was filed by Mr Unnar had been adjourned to a date to be fixed by office of the court when a special division bench would be formed for hearing.
Mr Unnar was booked in a murder attempt case on the complaint of PPP MNA Dr Azra at the Budhapur police station following an incident outside a polling station during by-elections on February 10, 2007 in Jamshoro district’s provincial assembly seat. She had filed a direct complaint for the registration of a case.
When the Pakistan People’s Party’s government was formed, Mr Unnar was arrested from Larkana and brought to Jamshoro. He was sent to the Central Prison Hyderabad.
