LAHORE, Oct 8: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday gave three weeks to the Punjab Board of Revenue to submit a detailed survey report on Miani Sahib Graveyard.
Member Colonies Najam Saeed appeared before the court during the hearing of a petition filed by former member of graveyard committee Tariq Shah in connection with the sale of 3.18 kanals of the graveyard land to the Lahore Development Authority and sought three weeks time for preparation of the survey report on the directions of the court.
The judge directed the graveyard committee to provide all possible facilities for the preparation of the survey report which should contain details of total area of the graveyard, the area covered by the graves and the area under encroachments.
The court described the prayer of the petitioner for the audit of the accounts of the graveyard as genuine and nominated S. Zafar and Company for the purpose.
RPO: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed the Sheikhupura regional police officer to submit a report on the departmental proceedings against the former DPO by Oct 27 for letting the son of French woman Peggy Collins go after being traced.
The court gave the directions during the hearing of Peggy’s petition for the recovery of her seven-year-old son Omat Malik brought to Pakistan by her husband Ashfaq after divorcing her.
The RPO informed the court that the former DPO had traced the boy but let him go.
The court also issued a notice to the Sharaqpur SHO for Oct 15 on the application of Peggy’s father-in-law Mukhtar Ahmed alleging harassment.
Notice: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued a notice to the Punjab police and sought comments on two petitions alleging refusal to issue tender documents for supply of shoes and padded jackets.
Petitioner Ayub Ali submitted that his company Ayub Shoes Factory manufactured and supplied shoes to police and army. The Punjab police invited tenders for supply of 34,925 pairs of shoes manufactured by Shafi (Pvt) Limited.
The police refused to issue tender documents to his company on the ground that the shoes could be supplied by only Shafi (Pvt) Limited or its authorised dealers.
Petitioner Khalil Ahmed submitted that his company Usman Traders manufactured uniforms and allied articles. The Punjab police invited tenders for supply of 17,528 padded jackets manufactured by M/S Valiant International, Lahore.
The petitioners prayed for declaring the tendering process null and void because it aimed at causing losses to national exchequer creating monopoly of certain companies on supplies to police.
They submitted that they could supply quality shoes and uniforms at competitive rates but had been deprived of the opportunity to compete.
The court issued notice to the police on the two petitions but did not issue a stay order against the opening of tenders for supply of shoes on Thursday (today). The chief purchase officer of police was, however, directed not to award contracts for supply pending the disposal of the petitions.
