TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 6: Several male and female aspirants for the posts of educators staged a demonstration in front of the district elementary education officer (female) on Monday afternoon to protest the unavailability of application forms.

The demonstrators told reporters that a majority of them had reached there from far-flung areas to obtain application form but clerks were reluctant to distribute forms on one pretext or the other.

They said that finally they were told to visit the office following day to obtain forms.

When contacted, District Education Officer Najma Kausar claimed that due to a large number of candidates, all available application forms had been distributed. She said that more forms were being printed at a local press which would be made available on Tuesday (today).

DEMO: Locals staged a demonstration outside Faisalabad Electric Supply Company’s offices in Pirmahal on Monday to protest loadshedding of electricity for up to nine hours.

The protesters led by Councillor Riaz Sargana of Lower Colony besieged the Fesco offices and chanted slogans against officials. They said that prolonged outages were also affecting water supply to the area.

When contacted, Fesco officials said that outages were because of some technical faults in transmission lines.
