NEW YORK, Oct 4: Business executive Larry Probst has been elected to replace Peter Ueberroth as chairman of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).

The 58-year-old Probst was unanimously elected to the post Thursday by the USOC Board of Directors and will serve a four-year term.

Probst is chairman of Electronic Arts, a developer and publisher of interactive entertainment. He will assume duties as USOC chairman of the board next week.

Ueberroth will continue working with the USOC as president in an honorary capacity, a non-voting position that will last for two years.

He will focus primarily on the USOC’s international relations efforts and will work with the International Olympic Committee, the USOC said.—Reuters
