Protesters block road for 3 hours

SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 4: Residents of Muridke threw traffic out of gear for some three hours on GT Road on Saturday to protest the dacoity-cum-murder incident.

Reports said that armed dacoits barged into Asif’s house, held the inmates hostage and started collecting cash and valuables. On offering resistance, the intruders fired at inmates, killing Salim instantly and injuring Asif and Riaz, who came there after listening to the hue and cry.

The police reached the spot and got the traffic restored after assuring the protesters that the culprits would be arrested within two days.

SHOT DEAD: A landlord was shot dead by three unidentified assailants in Alipur Tibba village in Muridke on Saturday.

Reports reaching here said that assailants came to Tufail’s house and took him to his fields on some pretext and shot him dead.

Muridke Saddar police are investigating.
