KARACHI, Oct 4: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, taking a serious notice of the deportation of some 600 Pakistanis from Oman, has directed all government departments and non-governmental organisations, ministry of human rights and other individuals and institutions concerned to evolve a strategy on an emergency basis to deal with the problem of illegal immigration.

The fresh batch of illegal immigrants, reportedly the biggest ever, returned home on Friday.

The governor has also advised the citizens seeking jobs abroad to proceed only after making sure that all legal formalities had been completed and there was no forgery involved.

He also stressed the need for creating awareness of relevant laws among the illiterate job seekers to avoid such a situation recurring in future.

He also appreciated the Pakistani officials’ gesture of letting off the 600 deportees without any prosecution for the first time.

He, however, called for legal action to be initiated against the “agents” indulging in the business of sending people abroad illegally or without completing all legal formalities.—PPI
