Three people killed during Eid days

OKARA, Oct 3: A man and a woman were killed in two road mishaps while another man committed suicide in this district during Eid days.

Israr Hussain was on his way to his house in Faizabad locality here when his speeding car overturned on G.T Road. Israr died on the spot.

In the second incident, an unidentified woman was run over by a speeding bus on G.T Road.

In the third incident, Sarfraz, of Chak 10/GD, got disappointed when his parents did not allow him to marry by choice and later shot himself dead.

PROTEST: Dozens of PML-N activists led by Mian Muhammad Munir and ex-nazim Akbar Ali Khan held a demonstration in front of Okara Press Club and protested the closure of party’s labour wing office in a local textile mills allegedly at the behest of PPP parliamentarians. They wanted action against the responsible and reopening of the office.

FIRE: Four shops in Haq Bazaar cloth market were gutted on Wednesday night. Valuables worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes after fire erupted owing to short-circuiting engulfed three cloth shops and a cosmetics shop. The local fire brigade extinguished the fire after hectic efforts.
