LAHORE, Sept 29: As many as 207 prisoners will be released from jails in Punjab on Eidul Fitr as a result of five-month special remission in sentences by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and payment of Diyat by the government.
As many as 377 prisoners will benefit from the remission in sentences and 100 will be released on Eid. The government will pay Rs23 million Diyat for 107 prisoners who had completed their sentences but are unable to pay Rs31 million for their release.—Reporter
