LARKANA, Sept 29: The personnel of prison police foiled an attempt by two under trial prisoners to escape and took into custody five women, including their mothers, for allegedly aiding them in escape on Monday.

The five women including mothers of the prisoners Akhlaque Ahmed Jatoi and Abdul Ghaffar Jatoi had come to meet them in the Central Prison.

When they were leaving the jail staff at the main gate suspected that some prisoners were also leaving with them in the guise of veiled women, the jail sources said.

The number of women was five when they came in and they were seven, two without veils, when they were leaving the prison, they said.

The jail staff asked two suspects (women) with their nails polished to lift up their veil and found that they were Akhlaque Ahmed Jatoi and Abdul Ghaffar Jatoi, the sources said.

The police overpowered the prisoners and sent them back to their barracks while the five women put under arrest and lodged at the women’s police station for further investigation.

They were Ghulam Sakina, mother of Akhlaque, Sahib Khatoon, mother of Abdul Ghaffar, Ms Imamzadi, Ms Hameeda and Zahida. The prisoners’ mothers had given their veils to their sons who had applied polish on their nails during meeting and planned to escape, the sources said.
