GUJRANWALA, Sept 28: The Food Department and other teams of the Punjab government on Sunday intensified checking of flour mills and sealed two more units in Qila Didar Singh on charges of not supplying bags to market.

Reports said the Food Department, the district administration and price magistrates were continuously checking mills for ensuring provision of flour bags to people without any hurdle.

On Sunday, the Food Department checked flour bags at two mills at Qila Didar Singh and found its weight less than the printed on bag. Both the mills were sealed.

About three days ago, the Food Department had sealed two mills in the city, including that of the flour mills association district president Saeed Gohar.

TAX RETURNS: The Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry has suggested the government and high-ups of income tax department to extend the last date for submitting income tax returns from Sept 30 to Oct 15 or Oct 20.

At a meeting held here on Sunday presided over by chamber president Riaz Mahmood Bajwa, the participants said the business community could not file income tax returns as many had either gone to Saudi Arabia for Umra or were observing 'Aitkaf.'
