Two injured in exchange of fire in jail

MIRPURKHAS, Sept 27: At least two persons were injured in an exchange of fire on the premises of the district prison here on Saturday.

According to sources, Constable Abdul Sattar and Dispenser Ameeruddin Chandio had an exchange of hot words over some petty issue.

Subsequently, the enraged police constable opened fire on the dispenser injuring not only Mr Chandio but his own son, nineteen-year-old Mohammad Shoaib.

Panic gripped the prison and its surrounding areas after the incident. The town police reached the spot and shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital.

The injured dispenser, after receiving necessary medical attention, was discharged from the hospital while, the boy was under treatment at the emergency ward of the hospital till filling of this report.

The town police station, Sub-inspector Mir Mohammad Mangrio said that so far no complaint about the incident had been registered.

Superintendent of Jail Mirpurkhas Zia-ur-Rehman Bajwa said that since it was a personal matter between the two persons, he will settle the issue after hearing arguments from both sides.

KIDNAPPED: A young girl was kidnapped from Mohammad Hayat Gupno village in the limit of Kunri police station in Umerkot on Friday.

Khameso Sheedi said in an FIR that Iqbal Sheedi, Ishaque, Saleh, Munawar and Mohammad, forced into his house and forcibly abducted his niece, Ms Ghulam Bano, 16, at gun point.
