SHIKARPUR, Sept 27: The journalists in Shikarpur staged a demonstration here in front of the press club against the manhandling of journalists including correspondents of DawnNews TV and Sindh TV by some extremists backed by some influential persons in Thatta while they were covering an event.

The president of the Shikarpur Press Club, Rahim Bux Jamali, and others condemned the incident and threatened to launch a protest drive and a boycott of official coverage if the culprits were not arrested.

BROHI COMMUNITY: A protest meeting of the notables of the Brohi community was held at Pir Bux Brohi near Tarai, Taluka Garhi Yasin to prepare a strategy for a protest drive for the recovery of a kidnapped man, Faiz Mohammad Brohi.

The notables and the villagers of Pir Bux Brohi village staged a demonstration and blocked the Lakhi-Larkana road and burnt tyres at Madeji main chowk to protest the delay in the recovery of Faiz Mohammad Brohi by the Madeji police last week.

Haji Yar Mohammad Brohi and other notables of the village led the protesters. The road was reopened for vehicular traffic after two-three hours on the assurance made by Sindh Minister Agha Sirajuddin Durrani for the recovery of the victim.
