LAHORE, Sept 26: The senior Punjab minister has ordered immediate re-opening of the bridge at Head Panjnad for light traffic to save travelers from inconvenience.
He also called for an explanation report for delay in starting the repair work from the irrigation chief engineer, Bahawalpur zone, a handout said here on Friday.
The minister was informed that the bridge had been closed to traffic for over a fortnight while no work had so far been initiated on it. He was further informed that closure and inordinate delay in construction was causing great problems for commuters and the local people.
At a meeting of senior officials and engineers of related departments held here, the minister directed that the bridge be opened forthwith, and during the construction, a service lane should be arranged as an alternate route for travelers. — APP
