PARACHINAR, Sept 23: Four persons were killed and 20 others sustained injuries in a clash between rival tribes in Kurram tribal region on Tuesday.

The fresh clashes erupted in Pewar and Pewar Tangi areas of upper Kurram when some members of Mangal tribe reportedly fired mortar shells at the positions of Turi tribesmen. The Turi tribesmen returned fire in retaliation. Four people were killed and 20 injured from both sides.

Meanwhile, 25 members of a jirga of Turi tribe had reached Peshawar and the remaining same number of members would leave for Peshawar on Wednesday.

The jirga would hold talks there to broker permanent ceasefire agreement.

The local people have attached great expectation to the negations, hoping that it would lead to the opening of Peshawar-Parachinar road.—Correspondent
