Spurious soft drinks seized

LAHORE, Sept 22: The City District Government Lahore’s food squads on Monday recovered 2,148 bottles of spurious cold drink from four people.

Muhammad Ali was carrying some 1,200 fake bottles of 500 millilitre of a famous brand cold drink in a pick-up (LHO 2220) when he was intercepted near Chauburji Chowk by the food suad.

Some 360 fake brand bottles, each of 1.5 litre capacity, were recovered from Ali Sher’s pick-up (LHO 5631) from near the drain at New Islamia Park while 198 bottles, each of 1.5 litre capacity, were seized from the rickshaw (LRO 4736) of Muhammad Ali at Liaqat Chowk of Sabzazaar.

At the Razi Park, Sher Shah Road of Shadbagh area, Syed Ishrat Ali was found selling substandard cold drinks while some 390 bottles, each of 1 litre capacity, were also confiscated.

Cases were registered under food bylaws.

The food squad also took milk samples at Thokar Niaz Beg and sent them for tests.
