NAWABSHAH, May 8: The growers of the Setharki Minor staged a a sit-in and observed a token hunger strike opposite the press club here on Wednesday against the irrigation official for non- supply of water.

They were led by Ali Mohammad Shah Lakiyari and Haji Shoaib.

They said that the growers of the Setharki Minor had been ignored as 25 watercourses had never got water after December 2001.

The growers said that the Setharki Minor was one of the longest minors of Sindh and was the only minor of the Nusrat Canal without cross regulator.

They alleged that the SDO and executive engineer had visited the minor on April 23 and promised to supply water for eight days but the minor was closed the very next day.
