KARACHI, Sept 20: The provincial food department is set to take action against Karachi-based flour mills for undermining the government’s efforts aimed at ensuring the sale of wheat flour at reasonable prices.

Sources said on Saturday that Sindh Food Minister Mir Nadir Ali Khan Magsi had taken a serious notice of some flour mills’ practice of selling flour at much higher rates despite the fact that Rs140 million had been extended to them as subsidy. The sources said that the action might include sealing of the defiant millers’ units or taking over such units until the situation normalized.—PPI
