QUETTA, Sept 16: Two factions of the Baloch Student Organisation held rallies here on Tuesday in protest against police firing in the New Kahan village in which, according to them, a woman was killed and 20 people were injured.

Members of the BSO-Azad and BSO-Mohiuddin gathered at the Manan chowk and outside the Press club and raised slogans against the government and security forces.

They called upon international human rights organisations to take notice of the excesses being committed against the Baloch.

Shahzeb Baloch and Ataullah Baloch rejected reports of recovery of explosive materials from the village and said it was a drama. They criticised what they called firing on people praying in a mosque.

They said that arrests and killings would not force the Baloch people to abandon their struggle against plunder of the resources of Balochistan.

They demanded immediate end to the military operation in Dera Bugti and Kohlu and withdrawal of troops from the districts.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan chapter of the Pakistan Medical Association and associations of paramedical and nursing staff staged a sit-in outside the chief minister’s secretariat, demanding arrest of the bandits who killed Dr Hafiz Salam in Satellite town a few days ago. The protesters accused police of collaborating with the bandits.
