KARACHI, Sept 13: Nazimabad Football Club beat District South champions Lal Bakhsh Memorial 2-1 in the KASB Premier League match played at the CDGK Stadium on late Friday night.

Nazimbad FC kept Lal Bakhsh under pressure with their fast-paced game from the very start of the match. The 17th minute saw Nazimabad’s Fareed Afridi being tripped by Lal Bakhsh’s defender Wajid Baloch inside the penalty area that resulted in a penalty kick in Nazimabad’s favour. The shot taken by the winning team’s striker Atif Fatah gave Nazimabad the lead.

The 27th minute saw them doubling the lead when striker Hameed Afridi converted Atif Fatah’s cross kick from the right side.

The score at interval was 2-0.

Lal Bakhsh could only reply by reducing the deficit through a penalty kick awarded to them in the 44th minute. Their striker Ghulam Nabi scored the goal.

Nazimabad FC’s Sher Gul and Lal Bakhsh Memorial’s Ayaz Baloch were awarded red cards by referee Khalid Mumtaz. Meanwhile, Shoaib Qasim and Hameed Afridi of Nazimabad and Wajid Baloch and Mohammad Amin of Lal Bakhsh also got yellow cards.

Having played five matches so far, Nazimabad FC have eight points and Lal Bakhsh have one point after playing three. They now share the second position along with Shahzad Mohammadan and Sharafi Mohammadan after Karachi Kickers, who are on top with 13 points.

Earlier, after losing their match by 1-2 to Shahzad Mohammadan on Sept 1, Karachi Kickers had submitted a written complaint to Sports 360, the event organisers, that Shahzad M’Dan were playing with three departmental players whereas the rules allow only two. After taking the matter into consideration, the organisers gave the match to Karachi Kickers, who also gained the three points deducted from Shahzad M’Dan.
