Wheat flour smuggling bid foiled

ATTOCK, Sept 12: A monitoring team on Friday foiled an attempt to smuggle wheat flour to NWFP and seized 2,120 bags of the precious commodity at Mullah Mansoor checkpost.

District Monitoring Officer (DMO) Shahid Farooq said the monitoring officials with the assistance of food department seized 1,800 bags of 20kg and 320 bags of 85kg each from four trucks which was being smuggled to NWFP from Punjab.

The truck drivers were handed over to the Attock Khurd Police along with the commodity.

The police have registered cases against them as they could not produce licence or permission for inter-provincial movement of such huge consignment of wheat flour. The police also took the vehicles into their custody.
