PARACHINAR, Sept 12: Five more people were killed and eleven others wounded as tribal elders intensified efforts to broker a ceasefire deal between the rival tribes of Kurram region on Friday.

The tribal elders had visited Baleshkhel, Khar Kalley, Para Chamkani, and Kirman areas to convince the warring tribes – Turi and Bangash – to stop fighting. Sources said the elders succeeded in their efforts to some extent as there was a lull in the fighting in these areas.

However, the clashes continued in Pawar, Tangi, Magbal, Nasti Kot, Inzari, Bagzai, and Alizai areas, killing five and injuring eleven others.

The elders would soon visit the troubled areas, sources said, adding the elders were optimistic that a viable solution would be found.
